Improved technology for silicone gaskets and sealing tools
Priority axis: 2 — Support for the environment and potential of enterprises to conduct R&D&I activities · Measure: 2.3 Pro-innovative services for enterprises · Sub-measure: 2.3.2 Innovation vouchers for SMEs
Project title: Development of a significantly modified and improved technology for manufacturing silicone gaskets and sealing tools used in thermoforming sealing machines in the food industry. The work covers the selection of vulcanisation conditions for the gaskets to optimise their properties and of sealing conditions to obtain a weld of the required quality, strength and tightness. Preparation of the engineering design (structural and technological) of the production tooling and the final product.
Project goal: The aim of the project is to develop a complete, significantly improved technology for manufacturing silicone gaskets used in the sealing sections of thermoforming machines, and a significantly improved process for sealing packaging used in the food industry, together with a design of sealing tools whose component parts are the gaskets. The research carried out will allow the design of sealing tooling elements that significantly improve the quality of the welded joints obtained. In addition, the designed tooling will ensure easy changeover of the process machine and its reliable operation. The project should result in fully functional prototypes: gasket moulds, gaskets and sealing assemblies. An additional aim is to select CAD software and a cutting machine tool ensuring synergy of the stages of producing gasket moulds and other elements covered by the project.
